ESADE BAN MEMBERS

The members of ESADE BANare investors, entrepreneurs, managers, Family Offices and representatives of Venture Capital funds with experience of creating and running companies. All of them wish to annually invest over €35,000 a year in innovative business projects with strong growth prospects. The funding comes from private investors (Business Angels) whether individually or acting in concert with other members of the network or with risk capital funds. ESADE BAN members are active investors. ESADE BAN will approve requests for admission in the light of the applicants’ track records and recommendations by other members of the network. ESADE BAN members pay an annual fee.

 

BENEFITS

DEAL FLOW

ESADE BAN draws on diverse sources of entrepreneurial projects. One of its main sources is ESADE’s pool of over 15,000 alumni. The network also has collaboration agreements with other investment entities and networks, which also receive ESADE BAN projects.

 

PROJECT SELECTION

ESADE BAN sifts through the projects submitted in accordance with investors’ criteria.

The best projects are then chosen from those that make it through the sifting process.

 

PROJECT VISIBILITY

All the projects that make it through the sifting process are visible to ESADE BANmembers. Thus, members may express an interest in projects at any given moment, regardless of when investment forums are held. The computing platform used gives ESADE BAN members unrivalled opportunities for evaluating investment opportunities.

 

CO INVESTMENT

ESADE BAN facilitates co-investment among its members and with other entities, companies and networks with which it has collaboration agreements.

 

PUBLIC FUNDING

ESADE BAN facilitates access to public funding through its collaboration agreements with other entities such as ENISA. This public funding helps to leverage the investment. In ENISA’s case, granting soft loans is subject to taking an equity stake in the company seeking investment.

 

TAXATION

ESADE BAN works to secure tax benefits for its business angels through its membership of the AEBAN and EBAN associations. These benefits are similar to those enjoyed by risk capital firms and the tax credits granted to private investors in France, The UK and Portugal as incentives for business growth.

 

BUSINESS ANGELS SCHOOL

ESADE BAN members will enjoy special terms in registering for the “Business Angels School”, which EEI (ESADE Entrepreneurship Institute) holds each semester.

ESADE BAN is keenly aware of the importance of ongoing training for Business Angels. That is why each Investment Forum holds special practical sessions on of investment.

 

ACCESS TO PROJECTS IN OTHER INVESTMENT NETWORKS

The computing system provides access to projects in other investment networks shown in the "Open Deals" section.

2.- Payment of the annual fee 2014:  To become a member of ESADE BAN these are the fees to create your account:

  • Investors from Barcelona: €200 Alumni / €350 non-alumni
  • Investor from Madrid: €100 Alumni / 250€ non-alumni

Refund fees: In case of investments made during 2014 in entrepreneurial ESADE BAN projects amount or greater than €20.000, the fee will be refund to the investor.

 

TAKE AN ACTIVE PART IN ESADE BAN

ESADE BAN’s system for analysing projects both facilitates and requires active participation by network members.

- ESADE BAN projects go through the following stages:

  • New: Submitted project awaiting review.
  • Accepted: Project that has passed review and is visible to ESADE BAN members.
  • Forum: Project selected for presentation at the next investment forum. Selection will be based on the interest shown by network members.
  • Presented: Project presented in the last Forum. If investors show no interest in the project in the 30 days following the forum, the project will be rejected.
  • Investment commitment: a project for which a letter of intention has been signed. There is a clear interest in investing under “due diligence” rules.
  • Investment made: a project that has been invested in.

 

- ESADE BAN members use four criteria to evaluate projects:

  • Project team
  • Product
  • Market
  • Investment proposal

 

- ESADE BAN members' interest can be placed under one of four heads:

  • Under observation
  • Considering investment
  • Committed to investment
  • Investment made

 

- All project communication between the entrepreneur and network members takes place within the system, ensuring effective, up-to-date monitoring.

 

- If various co-investors decide to fund the project and one of them leads the negotiations, the system shows him or her as the project leader.
